Have you ever had a game where the referee hasn’t turned up, or where no referee has been allocated to your game?
What ensures is often a panicked situation where you try to find someone at the club willing and able to referee as a “step-in referee”. This can be difficult as many people are reluctant to help out as a step-in referee as they often have no experience and/or limited knowledge on how to control a game as a match official.
REGISTER FOR THE FREE COURSE NOW
Due to these situations, clubs have requested a free refereeing course for senior players so they can feel comfortable stepping-in when there is no referee at a game.
In a collaboration with Eastern Suburbs Football Association, we are holding an Community Club Referee Training Course, which is a free two-hour course that certifies you to step-in and get paid for games where no referees are available.
It’s a short crash course in refereeing (free of charge) in case you need to step-up during the season and is open to parents, players, coaches, managers, and anyone else who might be in a position to step-in during the season.
Summary
- Two hour course to qualify you as a “step-in referee”
- The course is free but certifies you to get paid for any matches that you fill-in for
- Allows you to help out your club when one of their teams don’t have a referee
Please note: this does not qualify you to become an official referee and you cannot be officially appointed to matches. This certification allows you to fill-in for matches where there is no referee.
