We were treated to another spectacular weekend of BBC football with one fixture in particular providing us with 12 goals.
Inter Lions punished LFC Sports in their meeting at Concord; the two early pacesetters could not be split at Ewen Park while Balmain registered their first point in the competition.
This and plenty more is there to unpack in our extensive review below.
Inter Lions – LFC Sports 10-2
Inter Lions performed a demolition job on LFC Sports with 10-2 the final score at Ron Routley Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors started the match with eight men and that is when the real damage occurred with Inter going five clear within the space of 25 minutes or so.
Nick Paradisis was first to strike for Inter after barely a minute of play, James Kovas then scored a double to put the home side 3-0 up by the fifth minute mark.
Vincent Leto made it four to the good for Inter before Kovas secured his hattrick in the 25th minute.
The first half scoring was not done there with Stefan De Jesus giving his side an emphatic 6-0 lead as they went into the break.
Two quick fire goals at the commencement of the second half saw Inter go 8-0 up courtesy of an Adam D’Apuzzo goal and a fourth for Kovas.
It was now LFC Sports’ turn for their right of reply with Wely Al Rikaby pulling one back for his side just before 50 minutes.
However, Inter did not take their foot off the gas with Adrian Tamone the next Inter name to make his way onto the scoresheet.
Again, it was Al Rikaby who managed to get on the scoresheet again to make it 9-2 but that could not stop their ruthless opposition who inflicted double digits in the goal scoring department when Leto wrapped up the scoring with his effort in the 79th minute.
All in all, this will be an afternoon that LFC Sports will do best to forget as they turn their attention to a home clash against table-toppers Hurlstone Park.
Meanwhile, Inter will be hoping for much of the same when they make the short trip to Campbell Park to take on Abbotsford.
Hurlstone Park – Enfield Rovers 0-0
The highly anticipated top of the table clash at Ewen Park ended all square with neither side able to take the game by the scruff of the neck.
Both sides were able to manufacture chances on goal and it was the home side who came closest when they struck the post on a couple of occasions in the second half.

A point each sees both side’s league positions remain unchanged. Hurlstone Park remain in first place ahead of their visit to Bennett to meet a wounded LFC Sports while Enfield are back at Henley Park to host Marrickville.
Balmain DFC – Abbotsford 2-2
Balmain and Abbotsford could not be split with 2-2 the final score at a sun kissed Birchgrove Oval on Saturday afternoon.
The home side were quick off the blocks in this one with Ryan Chomphunut helping himself to his second goal in as many matches after just three minutes.
They remained on top after breaking the deadlock and were able to soon double their lead thanks to Ben Radford’s delightful volley.
Their 2-0 lead was not to last until the break with Abbotsford’s John-Paul Foti reducing the deficit five minutes before half time.
As the second half wore on it seemed like Balmain were odds on favourites to hold on to secure their maiden victory of the campaign – that was until Luke Farrell stepped up to level the scoring with his strike on 83 minutes.
A share of the points is enough to see Balmain move off the foot of the table at the expense of Cooks River while Abbotsford keep hold of seventh position.
Next up on the agenda for Abbotsford is a home fixture against the unbeaten Rovers while Balmain will be back at Birchgrove to welcome Strathfield.
Strathfield – Cooks River Titans 3-1
Strathfield returned to the winners circle with a 3-1 triumph over Cooks River Titans at Strathfield Park on Saturday afternoon.
A late Jeff Brennan header gave Strathfield the lead as the half time whistle blew after what was largely quite an even first half.
The hosts were able to carry that momentum into the second half with Daniel McCormack doubling his side’s advantage on 54 minutes.
The clean sheet evaded Strathfield when Luke Speranza returned fire on the hour mark before a superb save from Alan Collins denied Titans their highly craved equaliser.
They were soon punished with Cathal Horan killing the game off when he claimed his side’s third goal of the contest in the 71st minute.
The three points sees Strathfield move up into fourth place on the ladder ahead of their trip to Birchgrove while Cooks River fall to the bottom of the table ahead of their battle with Leichhardt Tigers.
Marrickville – Leichhardt Tigers Juniors 2-1
It was a happy outing for Marrickville as they registered back-to-back wins with Leichhardt Tigers their latest victim.
Rohan Sriram opened the scoring for the home side on 25 minutes but the lead did not remain intact for long with Marcelo Turdera equalising just three minutes later.
The deciding goal of the contest arrived in the 76th minute on the back of a fine effort from Martin Medina.
The Red Devils will be targeting three wins on the bounce when they face off against Enfield while Leichhardt Tigers will be out for blood as they entertain an out of form Titans side.
