Due to this season’s wet weather and the unavailability of playing fields for portions of the season, the City of Canterbury Bankstown have made the decision to waive fees for clubs impacted.
Several of the Council’s facilities were forced to close because they were considered unsafe to play on, at times being closed weeks on end.
The Council has arranged a two-month fee waiver for CDSFA clubs who were affected. In total, this equates to $19,613.80.
Football Canterbury extends its appreciation to the Canterbury Bankstown Council and the Mayor, Counsellor Khal Asfour, for this decision.
CDSFA CEO, Ian Holmes, applauded the actions of the Council.
“It is important to acknowledge that this is the third occasion the Mayor and Councillors have stepped up to assist our clubs across the last three seasons,” said Holmes.
“Not all councils have done this. Clubs in the City of Canterbury Bankstown have benefitted from their council's commitment to community sport.
“I want to thank the Mayor and the Councillors for supporting community football.”
