The Enfield Rovers Soccer Club has reached an agreement with the internationally renowned Celtic Football Club to establish the opportunity to provide young players with the opportunity to be part of the Celtic FC coaching development program.
The agreement with Celtic FC will see the international club provide staff to the Enfield Rovers Club at specific times throughout the year to assist deliver player development coaching sessions and a range of age specific coach education opportunities.
Celtic FC will provide the opportunity for Enfield Rovers as a partner club to have teams travel to Celtic FC to take part in a team experience with the club.
Celtic FC International academy Manager, Willie McNab said “the addition of such a strong community based football club like Enfield Rovers into our Club Partnership Program is significant. It forms part of Celtic’s mission to assist in growing the game around the world. Enfield Rovers is a perfect fit for our program. This will be a long-term commitment by both parties.”
McNab has confirmed that Celtic Coaches from their International Academy system will travel to Australia in April 2015 to conduct a number of the curriculum programs with Enfield Coaches and teams squads. “The club is excited about the prospect of bringing to Enfield Rovers ‘The Celtic Way’ of coaching and player education and development” said McNab.
Enfield Rovers Club President Charles Tama added, “Our strategic partnership and how we will nurture the program will ensure the local football community has the opportunity to be part of a unique experience.”
Principles
The purpose of the Enfield Rovers Development Academy is to take a long term approach to the development of competent, skilful players that are capable of playing in multiple positions on the field.
Our coaches want all players to be successful in soccer for as long as possible. In order to help young players have long term success in a high skill sport like soccer, our coaches have to have the courage to coach games with the intent to win but not at the expense of making sure that players have room to make mistakes. Just as importantly, while of course we want to win games, we don’t put winning ahead of giving players the opportunity to learn different positions and roles within the team and club as they grow and mature through our program.
The Enfield Rovers Development Academy will enhance each players overall soccer skills and education on the game. The ball is the game so all players will be around the ball for 90% of these sessions. They will be stepping into a challenging environment where each individual player will have their own needs met to build the confidence around the ball and be able to excel in a team setting. The players that want to take the challenge in this Academy should be dedicated to their own individual needs and want to be challenged in a fun and high energy coaching environment.

- 2 Team places reserved across 2 age groups at the Celtic International Youth Tournament in the US/UK
