There will be free heart checks for all players and spectators at Tempe Reserve this Saturday 20 August thanks to the Heartbeat of Football receiving funding from the Australian Turf Club Foundation.
The testing will be set-up from 1:30pm until 5:30pm, so please duck in before/after your match for your test. It takes less than ten minutes and will be conducted by staff from the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute.
Every year, more than 33,000 Australians suffer an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest, with survival rates less than 10%.
It is important to get tested: on average 33% of people tested by Heartbeat of Football are advised to see their GP for further testing. Many have discovered they have an underlying issue, sometimes genetic, and several have undergone life-saving procedures as a result.
Please take this opportunity for a free test and encourage your teammates and friends/family who are spectating to take the test.
