Published Tue 28 Feb 2023

Three players from our region have been selected in the Young Matildas squad who will travel to the Kyrgyz Republic next month for the first round of the 2024 AFC U20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers.

Daniela Galic, Tahlia Franco, and Milly Boughton have all been named in the squad.

It’s a first-ever Australian call-up for Boughton, a midfielder who is currently with West Ham United in England’s Women’s Super League.

Boughton played for Marrickville Red Devils from 2013 until 2017, starting her journey in the Little Devils program before establishing herself as a fine footballer in the junior mixed competitions.

Galic, a midfielder for Melbourne City in the A-League Womens, is an established regular in Australia junior teams and has been impressing fans and coaches with her performances on the pitch.

Galic played for Burwood FC in the U8s in 2014 and was player of the match in Australia’s U20 World Cup victory over Cost Rica late last year.

Having recently made her Sydney FC debut as goalkeeper, Tahlia Franco is no stranger to selection in Australian national teams.

Franco played for Earlwood Wanderers in 2016 and 2017.
